Pnut Box

Pnut was originally a e-smith internet gateway/firewall/wed server/ftp/file/smb/music server, which was very empty and headless but did its job very well =). Now Panut is a pentium 133 with 96Mb ram, three small hdd's (2.1Gb, 800Mb and 420Mb) a DVD Drive =) *not for viewing pleasure* a Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI soundcard, 12Mb Voodoo2, 8Mb SiS PCI vid card, adaptec scsi card and 640Mb Magneto Optical (MO) Drive and a 100m NIC

Of course Pnut is running Linux (RedHat 7.2) and Windowmaker for speed and style. Pnut is my main pute at the moment because my motherboard fried in my Athlon 900 and it'll take me around 2 months to get a new one plus new ram to go with it (I'm upgrading from SD -> DDR)
So while it's "Out Of Order" ive taken the opertunity to rip everything else out and do a bit of case modding, the results are here

This page is sort of about getting pnut up and running as a 'net 'mail and music terminal to use for as long as i need =). It Runs pretty quickly, *faster than my Dad's old P233 384Mb SDram running windows* and its quite eficient.

The main goal of this page is to provide a collection of programs i have found usefull while setting up - and anything interesting after that.
